34Settings

Settings, in the app drawer, is where you manage your account and billing, and a few preferences for how Gridtop looks and sounds. Connecting AI providers is done in APIs & Models (chapter 13); updates to the Windows app are in the Autocomputing '26 app (chapter 41).

34.1 General and Appearance

The General tab holds Sound: Startup sound, On or Off, for the short drum Gridtop plays as it starts. It applies on this device: each computer keeps its own. Two other sounds mark moments you should notice even when looking elsewhere, and follow your computer's own volume: a low alert when Gridtop asks whether to save or discard your changes, or before deleting or removing something (10.4), and a chirp when an agent asks you a question or for a permission (12.14).

Beneath it, Manual holds this book. Open shows it in a new tab, where your browser's viewer lets you search it, jump by its contents and print it; Download saves a copy to your computer. The manual is available only while you are signed in, and is updated with each edition of Gridtop.

The Appearance tab adjusts how Gridtop looks on this device, applied at once:

34.2 Account and Two-Factor Sign-in

The Account tab holds your Identity (full name and email address), your Security, and your Organization (its name, your role or title, and a telephone number). To change your password, type it into New passphrase and Confirm passphrase; leave blank to keep your current passphrase. Two-factor sign-in is switched on and off here (2.1); the header menu's Security Setup brings you here too.

34.3 Billing

The Billing tab shows your plans, the payment cards on your account (up to four), and your payment history. To start, change or cancel the Gridtop add-on, use Services in your dashboard (2.2, 2.6).

34.4 Terminal

The Terminal tab describes Gridtop's command line, A command line for the Gridtop — drive it with cmd-style commands (cd, dir, new agent "name", chat, tool)., and holds Launch Terminal, which opens it (chapter 31).
